For a St. Patrick’s Day makeup tutorial you want it to pop with bold colors to bring out the festivities. I have been playing around with the new Halo Eye makeup look and thought green and copper worked well together. In this particular case I used metallic shades of both green and copper to bring out the shine and highlight. This concept is in stark contrast to a neutral look, like this one.
The Halo or Spotlight eye is a technique where strategic shadows are used to give the eyes a larger appearance. The contrast between the light and dark colors on both lower and upper lids creates this effect.
This type of look requires tons of blending, but the outcome is worth the effort. The blending is necessary because each of the layers is such a dramatic shift from those that come before it. This is specifically evident when applying the concealer base to the eyelid, then adding green metallic right on top. The crease must be blended out and done so with care to not bleed color to other areas of the lid.
In the future I will be doing other variations of the Halo Eye. It has so much potential as a way to change the shape and appearance of eye size. The rounding and enlargement is obvious with any Halo Eye, but bold colors enhance this effect, especially from a distance.
Enjoy this look and would love to hear from you about other looks in this family that you would like to see.
